Letter from the Principal of NFA North Campus
November 2, 2018
Dear Newburgh Free Academy North Campus families,
I am writing to inform you of two incidents that took place late this week at Newburgh Free Academy, North Campus. On ¶¹ÄÌÊÓƵ morning, it was reported that two students were involved in an altercation. As a result of the altercation, one student was injured. As a result of further investigation by the City of Newburgh Police Department, there is no concern that a dangerous object was brought into school or onto school grounds. Each student was addressed according to the District Code of Conduct. Security monitors and our School Resource Officer responded quickly. One student was taken to the hospital out of an abundance of caution and one student was taken to the City of Newburgh Police Department.
Late ¶¹ÄÌÊÓƵ evening, the City of Newburgh Police Department received a report of a threat in connection with the altercation earlier that day. The threat was directed from one student at Newburgh Free Academy’s North Campus toward a student at the same high school campus. The City of Newburgh Police Department investigated throughout the night and found the threat to be unsubstantiated. In order to do our due dillligence, the City of Newburgh Police have had a presence at the North Campus, both inside and outside of the building throughout the day today.
As you know, the safety of our students and faculty is our highest priority. Please help us remind your child(ren) to speak to an adult when incidents occur and that it is important to tell a teacher, guidance counselor, or administrator.
If you have any questions regarding this matter, please contact our main office at (845) 563-8400.
Through the work of all,
Mr. Matteo Doddo
Co-Principal of Newburgh Free Academy, North Campus
