GAMS Successfully Interviewed 236 Students in Grades 3-5 for School Community Jobs!
Gidney Avenue Memorial School, a Leader In Me School, is continually working on a shared vision-to prepare today's student to become tomorrow's leaders. This was evident on ¶¹ÄÌÊÓƵ, October 17th as GAMS continued to support its efforts around developing leaders aligned to the American School Counseling (ASCA) National Standards for career development. Through a series of activities including a Job Fair earlier this month, followed by personal job interviews students acquired skills, attitudes and knowledge enabling students to make a successful transition from school to the world of work, and from job to job across the life span. 236 students in grades 3-5 interviewed for over 25 jobs.
The entire staff was involved in this program. Students explored various jobs, developed awareness of personal abilities, skills and interests, learned how to complete a job application, prepare for a job interview and understand the importance of responsibility, dependability, punctuality and effort in the work place. All students will be assigned a prospective job in the GAMS community which they will maintain throughout the school year.
