Community Appreciation Day Information

On behalf of event organizers:

The Police Community Relations Review Board ( PCRRB) of the City of Newburgh is hosting a Community Appreciation Day in Downing Park on Saturday, July 24th from 11:00 am-4:00 pm (rain date July 31st). The planning committee for this event is composed of both grass roots and well established organizations that have a history of supporting the people of the city.  "We are Newburgh", the NAACP of Newburgh/ Highland Falls , Cornerstone Family Health Care, Planned Parenthood and several other  community organizations are the core of the planning team. The event will include, free to the community, food, music, backpacks of school supplies, free raffles, Covid vaccine registration, American Heart Association education, support services information, free book giveaway, healthy movement activities and more.

This event could be a good opportunity for organizations to make the community aware of the work they do and to educate and invite people to join them.

The attached flyer has the contact information.

Please contact us to see how your organization can participate in this community event!

We are also seeking help from organizations to provide 200-225 full sized backpacks for students. The resource that has historically provided these is not able to this year. The students need the large, sturdy backpacks to accommodate the daily transport of their chrome books which are provided by the Newburgh Enlarged City School District (¶¹ÄÌÊÓƵ) to each student.

The backpack event is held each year in the park by the organization, "We are Newburgh". This is a very important event for our scholars and promotes education, preparedness and scholarship and is the centerpiece of the event.

The other need we have is a large tent to create a space for people to sit in the shade to eat the food prepared by the Newburgh Police, which will include healthy foods like veggie burgers and grilled fresh vegetables in addition to the traditional burgers and hot dogs. Every aspect of the event will have the focus of community health and safety.

Your organization's help in any way would be greatly appreciated.

ATTENTION: Are your scholars or colleagues doing something great? Please contact the district Communications Team at communications@necsd.net. We’d love to visit your class or event and/or post your pictures and recap to highlight the amazing accomplishments throughout our district!
