College and Career Fair attracts more than 130 organizations
Organized by the NFA Counseling & Guidance Department in collaboration with the Capital Area School Development Association (CASDA), Newburgh Free Academy hosted its Annual College and Career Panel followed by the College and Career Fair on November 1, 2017. As one of the largest college fairs in Orange County, students and parents heard from a panelist of college admissions representatives and career and industry professionals. Presentations were held in both English and Spanish.
During the college fair, NFA high school scholars from all three campuses (Main, North, and West) were exposed to a variety of colleges, universities, technical, trade programs and military. Hundreds of students and their families met with admissions officers, gathered information, and signed up to receive material from places of interest throughout the night. High School Counselors were on hand to answer questions and provide support.
More than 130 organizations participated this year. “The Guidance Department is thrilled to be able to offer our student body as many opportunities to network and connect with admissions representatives to talk about the application process, programs, financial aid and more.” NFA welcomed its middle school scholars as well. “It’s even more exciting when we see our middle school students engaged in future planning. It’s never too early to begin!” The NFA Counseling & Guidance Department is excited to offer upcoming workshops including a hands on FAFSA workshop for seniors, and Financial Aid and Opportunity Programs. More information about upcoming events to follow.
