NFA School Counselors attend Orange County Counselors' Association event
A group of NFA school guidance counselors attended the annual dinner and learned about growing trends in career and technical fields and the need for women in those industries. The information was presented by the Universal Technical Institute and Penske and inspired the group the importance of focusing on career development as much as they focus on college application and enrollment.
Established in 1955, the Orange County Counselors' Association (OCCA) provides a united organization for those invested in supporting the adults and youth of Orange County reach their academic, social/emotional and career potential. Members of the organization include school counselors, social workers, vocational counselors, Department of Social Services counselors, school counseling graduate students, college admission counselors and retirees to network, gain professional development, share ideas and keep abreast of new State reforms. Annually, the Organization hosts several general membership meetings as well as a spring college fair, and an evening to honor our retiring members and Counselor of the Year. The organization proudly awards scholarships to deserving Orange County students in the areas of: academic merit, career and technical participation as well as special education achievement. They are mentored by our retired members and strive to enhance the educational experience for all we serve.
