5 New Trees Added for Tree Planting Project at GAMS
On Tuesday, April 11, the Newburgh JCC planted 5 new trees along North Street at Gidney Avenue Memorial School. The tree planting project finally took root after months of planning. Once the landscapers from L. Warren Lawn Maintenance and Landscaping dug the holes and began the planting, GAMS 5th graders helped by replacing the soil and grass around their newly planted trees. Some of the students even went so far as to name the trees.
The tree planting project was 100 percent funded by donors. The health department even stopped by to applaud the efforts made to get new trees planted throughout the community. GAMS students will take on the maintenance component this spring as the plants acclimate.
