200 Student Musicians Perform in All District Music Festival
More than 200 students from various schools across the district united their voices and musical talents to present a collaborative performance featuring songs from a combined chorus, band, and orchestra. Representing elementary, K-8, and middle schools within the district, participants hailed from Balmville School, Fostertown School, Gardnertown Leadership Academy, Gidney Avenue Memorial School, Horizons-on-the-Hudson, New Windsor School, Vails Gate STEAM Academy, Meadow Hill School, Temple Hill School, Heritage Middle School, and South Middle School.
Both students and their teachers invested countless hours in rigorous practice sessions and rehearsals to ensure the success of the performance.
Mrs. Christine Mackey (VGSA) conducted the All-District Orchestra and Ms. Morgan Decker (VGSA) conducted the All-District Band.
The All-District Chorus was collaboratively conducted by Mrs. Anne Linton (GLA), Ms. Karen Sheehy (NWS), Mrs. Karin McCartney (Retired - GAMS), Mr. Mathew Camara (THA), and Ms. Kelly Shackleton (MHS), with piano accompaniments provided by Ms. Karen Sheehy and Mrs. Karin McCartney.
Story provided by Ms. Kristen Johnsen, Director of Fine and Performing Arts.
