Girls Tennis Preview | Viviene Bucci heads NFA tennis roster

Viviene Bucci, as an eighth grader, was the Newburgh Free Academy girls’ tennis team’s top finisher last year, as she reached the quarterfinals of last year’s Section 9 tournament.
This year, she will be one of the Goldbacks’ top returners.
The Goldbacks lost five players of last year’s team: Olivia Steiner, Jessica Fendt, Gigi Pollick, Gabby DeSiervo, and Taryn Sileno.
Returning behind Bucci are three seniors: Cora Kerin, Zara Tranquada and Lambrini Andrianis. Sienna Copans and Angie Ludena will be new to the team this year.
Fourth-year coach Arturo Santana said he hopes his team will post a .500 record after going 6-4 last season. He also wants to see four players qualify for October’s Orange County Interscholastic Athletic Association tournament.
