Meadow Hill Giving Back to the Community

“Make a Difference Day” is one of the largest national days of community service. Celebrated on the fourth Saturday of October, thousands of volunteers unite in a common mission to improve the lives of others. In observance of this important day, Meadow Hill GEMS students, faculty, and staff prepared and served lunch to the residents of Hudson Pointe Senior Apartment. A delicious meal with a side of good conversation was served up by students and staff members. Student participants included members of the National Junior Honor Society, Student Government Committee, the Newburgh Steeler’s Football team, the Girl’s Modified Soccer team as well as other enthusiastic GEMS participants. Through the collaborative effort of all, approximately 75 seniors were served.

Meadow Hill will continue to provide community service opportunities for its middle school students through its collaboration with Ebenezer Baptist Church. Every third Wednesday of the month from 5pm-7pm, volunteers are needed to help prepare and serve meals in the church’s soup kitchen. If you are a 7th or 8th grade Meadow Hill student interested in volunteering, please see Ms. Pittman or Mrs. Smith in the guidance suite. In order to participate, you must get parental consent and transportation to and from the site. Five students will be able to participate each month. Parents and teachers are welcome to volunteer as well.

This program also fit into the 2016-2017 District Mantra of #ValuesMatter.
