The Hour of Code started as a one-hour introduction to computer science, designed to demystify "code," to show that anybody can learn the basics, and to broaden participation in the field of computer science.

Forty scholars in grades 9-12 who are in Ms. Elizabeth Cappello’s Introduction to Computer Science and Web Design from NFA’s Main Campus walked over to GAMS to teach the elementary scholars to code.

250 NFA Dance Scholars Perform Not-So-Traditional Nutcracker
250 NFA Dance scholars presented a not so traditional version of the classical tale The Nutcracker. The performance included the traditional story line and using the Tchaikovsky score, but added in some other, more modern songs.

Scholars from Newburgh Free Academy's barbering and cosmetology programs volunteered at St. Luke's Cornwall Hospital's annual event. Scholars offered haircuts, hair styles, and manicures.

NFA Culinary Scholars Build Life Sized Nutcracker and Learn from Celebrity Cake Artist
The Culinary Arts program at Newburgh Free Academy’s Main Campus created and decorated a seven-foot nutcracker model out of cake and rice krispie treat for the performance of The Nutcracker, that was performed by the NFA Dance Department.
