Temple Hill’s counseling services are designed to be developmental and foster optimal learning conditions for each child. Our counselors work closely with students, parents, faculty, and administration to provide academic guidance, social/emotional and family guidance, as well as academic and career planning for all students. Ms. Petruolo’s and Mrs. Torres-Pagan’s supports include: classroom guidance lessons, peer mediation, conflict resolution, individual and group counseling, college and career readiness workshops, and transition to middle/high school. They also coordinate parent/teacher conferences and are members of the attendance team. At the secondary level, Ms. Petruolo acts as the THA scholarship committee chair, and is the liaison for the Marist College Upward Bound program.
Mrs. Carrie Frost - School Social Worker - (845) 568-6476
Mrs. Frost is a School Social Worker and member of the ¶¹ÄÌÊÓƵ Social Emotional Learning (SEL) Team. Social Emotional Learning is the process by which a student develops self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship skills, and responsible decision making (CASEL, 2005). Mrs. Frost will be working as a support to Temple Hill Academy in enriching social emotional growth and development, with a focus on the K-5 level. The SEL Team focuses on data-driven systems and activities that develop social emotional language and relational skills for all students, as well as specific interventions that target our most at-risk learners. Areas of support include: school-wide behavior systems (PBIS), building level participation and intervention models targeting attendance and behavior, linkage to community systems, supporting classroom-based SEL curriculum, promoting positive school climate and culture, and targeted strategies for students with specific SEL needs.
Ms. Jennifer Arroyo - School Psychologist - (845) 568-6466
At Temple Hill Academy, Ms. Arroyo helps our students succeed academically, socially, and emotionally. She collaborates with educators, parents, and other professionals to create safe, healthy, and supportive learning environments for all students that strengthen connections between home and school. In addition to this, Ms. Arroyo also is involved with: evaluation of eligibility for Special Education services, mandated member of CSE meetings, sub-committee on Special Education, mandated IEP counseling, ERSS (non-mandated) counseling, crisis intervention, response to intervention team, consultation with teachers regarding difference behavioral assessments and intervention plans, Manifestation Determination Meeting Chairperson, classroom observations for students, parent teacher conferences, collaborate with School Counselor and School Social Worker, train/consult with Special Education teachers on various Tests of Achievement.

Their duties include but are not limited to: promote health through nursing assessment (health history and review of symptoms), provide care in both routine and emergent issues for students and staff, administers medication on a daily and as needed basis, prevent life-threatening situations, NYS Mandated yearly vision, hearing, scoliosis screening, plan for health related emergencies, counsel students on health and emotional issues, establish care and medication regimens in order to keep children in the classroom which promotes student achievement and success
