Newburgh Free Academy | House Restructure
June 4, 2024
Dear NFA students and families,
I am writing to share an important update about our high school. In an effort to enhance the instructional program and positively impact our graduation rate, we will be restructuring all campuses at Newburgh Free Academy. For those of you who have had students with us previously or may have been a student yourself, this is a return to a similar model that we have used in the past.
Our programs will be divided into “Houses,” which are briefly described by . There will be three “Houses” at NFA Main Campus. NFA North and West Campus will each be their own “House.” We hope that dividing our largest campus into three campuses will allow our students, faculty, and staff to have a slightly smaller feel in an otherwise large building as just one benefit of this model. The House where a student is placed will be the place they take most of their courses. Students will be permitted to take electives outside of their assigned House.
We would like to invite current students in grades 8-11 to an information session on ¶¹ÄÌÊÓƵ, June 13th at 5pm at Newburgh Free Academy Main Campus. All students and their families who will be attending any of our high school campuses next year are welcome to attend. Please or the title link below to submit questions that you may have no later than Tuesday, June 11th. This session will be streamed and recorded in addition to being presented live for those who attend.
We are asking students who have been placed at NFA Main Campus to complete a brief survey to provide your preference as to which “House” you would like to be placed in for your high school journey. Please complete this survey no later than Tuesday, June 11th by 12pm (noon). We will do our best to honor requests for preferences that we receive by that date. For those who do not share your preference by the time the survey closes, students will be placed based on the electives they chose with their school counselor in their academic planner. Students who have been placed at our North and West campuses do not need to do anything at this time.
Thank you for your participation in this process, as we work to provide the best education for every Goldback, every day.
Sincerely,
Ms. Susan Valentino & Mr. Matteo Doddo, Co-Principals
