Our Programs
The first STEAM Academy in the greater Newburgh area...
Vails Gate School has transitioned to Vails Gate STEAM Academy. The transition provides our students with an enriched curriculum by integrating the standard curriculum through STEAM: Science, T echnology, Engineering, Art and Math.
The STEAM philosophy helps students become problem solvers, leaders and collaborative learners through exploration and discovery. Vails Gate continues to have a diverse community and offers a Dual Language Program. This program is an approach to developing language proficiency and literacy in both English and Spanish
All students will have opportunities to experience STEAM through Explorations, Integrated Curriculum, STEAM Days and Year Long Projects.

Communication. Collaboration. Cooperation.
The idea of emphasizing the STEAM subjects in delivering the curriculum has been driven by the business community, with the goal of preparing an agile and competitive workforce.
Through STEAM, students explore themes in depth and across the curriculum. They tackle real-world problems that require them to ask questions, use empathy, and engage in collaboration, problem solving, and trial and error to come up with a solution.
"Experts estimate that as many as 65 percent of today’s grade school students will end up working in jobs that have not been invented yet; Vails Gate’s STEAM curriculum is designed to prepare them for that reality."
